Pleasure Divers: 2 day Advanced Yongala Course
The Advanced Course enhances your already existing Open Water skills and adds a new dimension to your diving experience. The advance course consists of two days. The first day is on Magnetic Island learning navigation procedures, naturalist information and wreck Diving skills whilst enjoying what the island has to offer. The second day, you are taken to the Best Wreck Site in Australia, the S S Yongala. On the Yongala you will gain knowledge and experience with a deep and boat dive. The Yongala is the best dive that Australia has to offer with its natural beauty and surroundings and magnificent view of the size and colours of the fish and coral. This is one dive that will not be forgotten. The course structure offers you opportunity to enhance your existing skills and pathway for future diving, whilst seeing the most serene surrounding and natural beauty that diving has to offer.
Day 1;Magnetic Island.(3 of the dives listed below)
Naturalist Dive; For this dive your instructor will ask you to identify a range of different marine creatures and introduce you to new species that you never knew existed
Night dive; On your night dive you get to experience the ocean in the dark. You'll see a different variety of marine life that you won't see during the day and learn the skills to enable you to dive at night. (night dives are only conducted if conditions permit)
Navigation dive; On this dive your instructor will set you specific navigational tasks and show you the best way to achieve them. You'll be shown the correct way to use an underwater compass and how you can use the natural environment to help you find your way around underwater.
Peak Performance Buoyancy; For this dive your instructor will show you how to properly weight yourself and take you through a range of buoyancy skills. By improving your buoyancy control you will find diving even more relaxing and fun.
Day 2 The SS Yongala shipwreck.(2 of the dives listed below, The Yongala trip is weather dependent)
Deep dive; For this dive your instructor will explain to you how diving at deeper depths may affect you while your diving. They will take you through the precautions that you need to take for a deep dive and how to avoid the risks associated with them to make it as safe as possible.
Wreck Dive; On this dive you will be asked by your instructor to identify some points of hazards that may be associated with diving on wrecks and they will explain ways that you can minimize the risks caused by those hazards. You'll also be asked to identify some points of interest on the wreck.
Boat Dive; For the boat dive you'll learn the techniques that you need to dive from boats safely, such as entry and exits boat safety and procedures
